The Hijab
MY HIJAB, MY CHOICE
2021
Muslim girls in Oslo write their own stories through hijab or without it.
Each choice is a personal story of faith, belonging and self-expression in a city that embraces diversity.

_ Ajat: " I proudly choose to wear hijab as a muslim woman- despite the challenges I have faced and those yet to come."

_ Mariam: "Wearing a hijab isn’t the only way to show you’re Muslim."

_ Liz: "The hijab symbolizes my values and principles. My hijab is also a big part of my identity as a Muslim woman, and I wear it with pride."

Mojgan: "Coverage is not just for the body and hair. I believe that one can cover the heart and soul with love and peace."

_ Tamina: “For me, the hijab is a symbol of femininity, freedom, and all my values that I carry with me every day."

_ Håda: “No matter how one chooses to dress, no one except God knows how faithful you are.”

_ Maria: " If only people saw hijab as we do-not mere fabric, but the very fabric of our being: woven with integrity, kindness, and conviction. In Norway's free air, this choice breathes alongside another truth: that true freedom lets every woman dress her truth. "

Larin: "My hijab is a symbol of my freedom."
