Khatemeh Sadeghi
I am a Norwegian-Afghan woman who has called Norway home since the age of three. My life has been a journey between two cultures: the Afghan traditions, stories, and faith I embraced at home, and the Norwegian values and language I discovered in society. While I do not remember the land my parents fled, its culture has always been a vital part of my soul.
Navigating this dual identity hasn't always been easy. In my youth, choosing to wear the hijab made my faith more visible, bringing both respect and prejudice. Those experiences taught me to stand firm and be proud of my background.I’ve learned that I don’t have to choose between cultures. Today, I am an active professional and a member of my community, proving that faith and tradition can thrive alongside modern life. Living at this cultural crossroads has made me stronger and more empathetic—I am not just one or the other; I am both, and that is where my identity truly lives.
